Hoar Finishes New Commissary at NAS Jacksonville
The new 116,000-square-foot commissary serves active military personnel, retirees, and their families in the Jacksonville area. In addition to the supermarket, the new facility includes non-perishable and refrigerated food storage, food processing, staging and receiving, and administrative areas.
“We’re excited to complete the facility in time to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the commissary benefit and the 25th anniversary of the Defense Commissary Agency. This was a challenging project, and our team worked diligently to get the commissary open for the military community to enjoy,” said Joel Brown, project manager for Hoar Construction.
Hoar served as the general contractor for the new commissary, as well as the Naval Air Station Exchange renovation, addition, and parking expansion. Hoar will also participate in the upcoming grand opening ceremony for the construction of the new Fort Belvoir Commissary in Fort Belvoir, Va.
