Berthon Takes Over as Chairman for ICSC Centerbuild Conference
Hoar Construction Senior Vice President Stacey Berthon has been named chairman for the International Council of Shopping Center’s CenterBuild 2017 conference.
Berthon will serve a one-year term and oversee all planning for the November 2017 conference held in Phoenix, AZ. The official transition occurred Friday at the closing remarks of the 2016 conference, where Berthon served as the vice chair.
“The focus of the CenterBuild conference and committee is to put together an educational conference that covers best practices across the retail design and development industry as well as identifies the emerging trends affecting our work. Connecting with our industry peers is also a key element to the conference’s appeal,” Berthon said. “My role is to get a large committee working together focused on making the total event better than before.”
CenterBuild is the premiere specialty conference for design and construction professionals dedicated to the planning, development, design, and construction of retail-focused developments. Over the past 30 years, thousands of design and construction professionals have attended this conference, emphasizing a highly interactive program that encourages the exchange of ideas.
Berthon will lead a 45-person committee to plan the next conference. The committee has three in-person, two-day planning sessions, along with numerous conference calls, throughout the year.
Berthon has 34 years of experience in the retail construction industry and is responsible for Hoar Construction’s strategy and profitability in the retail/mixed use sector. He has worked on many of the company’s major retail projects throughout his career including The Avalon, in Alpharetta, GA; Mercato in Naples, FL; Peninsula Town Center in Hampton, VA; and Liberty Center in Cincinnati, OH.
